Bjornsen Pond Management is experienced in the concept and practice of land management
In addition to our vast expertise in managing ponds and lakes, we also take a holistic approach to land management.
Your land plays a key role in your pond’s water quality
The water quality of your pond is directly affected by the things that flow into it. Sediment/silting of your pond can occur from natural occurrences such as heavy rain and runoff. Man-made issues like high nutrient concentrations caused by runoff from residential landscapes and agricultural fields will also have an impact on your water quality. Managing what flows into your pond is critical to your pond’s appearance, function, and even smell!
Land management does not stop there, however. Your pond/lake is part of an ecosystem. And that ecosystem will attract all sorts of wildlife. Most species are desirable, but if populations grow too large they can create problems.
Bjornsen Pond Management can create a comprehensive Land Management Plan that addresses your areas of concern such as water runoff, erosion control, and the management of nuisance species.
Going farther, our plan will recommend steps that can be taken to enhance your ecosystem. We have all heard stories about declining bee and Monarch butterfly populations, for example. As your land management team we can make recommendations on improvements that can attract desirable animal and insect species. These enhancements can include the planting of food plots, native prairie restoration, or creation of bioswales (plant filters) that slow water runoff, decrease erosion, and decrease the amount of pollutants that can reach your pond.
The net effect of these measures are cleaner water, reduced maintenance, decreased nuisance animal populations and an increase in desirable animal populations.
Bjornsen Pond Management’s land management services extend to providing products such as wildlife feeds, blocks and supplements, wildlife feeders in many configurations, and protein feeders.
