Pond and Lake Audits
With Electrofishing
With Electrofishing
Bjornsen Pond Management recommends pond and lake audits with electrofishing as the starting point in returning your body of water to great health. Over the years, fish populations can get out of balance. Feeder fish populations can become too dense taxing your pond resources. Or large gamefish populations can be decimated by not having enough smaller fish to feed on. Likewise, the right fish can keep your plant life in check— without those species you can be fighting a losing battle with invasive plant species.
While on the water, we:
Inspect fish for diseases and parasites
We observe predator to prey ratios and calculate relative weights
We monitor undesirable species and over-abundant year classes
We study the overall habitat and water quality
Bjornsen Pond Management travels across the Midwest to electrofish lakes and ponds every spring and fall. From the outing, we create a comprehensive management plan which includes forage stocking, game fish stocking, habitat enhancement, and pond vegetation control recommendation. We also address aeration and water quality needs.
We recommend pond and lake audits with electrofishing to make sure everything is staying balanced and healthy.
Electrofishing utilizes a specialized boat to introducing an electric charge into your lake or pond. This charge temporarily stuns fish, which are then collected, analyzed, and returned back to their home—safely. Electrofishing does not harm the fish in any way.
An audit follows electrofishing allowing us to create a perfect management plan for you.
